Testimonials

Dear Ed and Pat Davis:

Happy New Year!  Father Al Mott and I hope and pray that 2008 will be a year of good health and prosperity for you, personally and for your company.

Fr. Al and I both want you to know that our parishioners are "luv'n" their new pews!  Thank you for your good work, your on time delivery, your meticulous attention to detail, and the professional way in which Ed planned and led the assembly and installation process with our local crew.  People have complimented the comfort of the seats, the beauty of the routed gothic designs in the pew ends, the remarkable care and quality that went into the woodwork and the way the kneelers don't go "clunk" on the floor.  Many Catholics are familiar with heavy wooden kneelers that bang down when lowered.  Yours are sturdy, lightweight, and pivoted just right.  The softness of the padding on the kneeler tops is wonderful; everyone's knees are smiling up at them while they pray!

As project manager for the renovation of our church, I had many things to be concerned about and different contractors to deal with - asbestos removal,. stained glass window repair, new lighting and wiring, roof replacement, steeple repair, and all new floor coverings (hardwood and carpet) throughout the church.  In the midst of the project, our former pastor retired and our new, young priest arrived, with many new ideas.  Our pew contract had many details as well.  Pew interval spacing?  How to fit pews around the new columns?  Where to put wheelchair spaces?  Pew frontal design?  Etc.  Fortunately for me, Ed and Pat, you made my "pew experience" easy.  Your prompt, clear answers to all my phone calls and emails where courteous, professional, accurate, and accommodating of every little change that came along.  My confidence in you never wavered.

With me in Michigan measuring floor space and determining the boundaries between carpeting and hardwood, which ultimately defined pew locations, and you in Wisconsin making the pews, I naturally was concerned about how it would all fit together.  When the installation was complete and one of the installers told me that overall the fore-and-aft spacing of the 18 rows of pews was only off by 1/16th on an inch, I prayed "Thank you, God and Ed Davis!"

When we reopened the church for Mass on Christmas Eve, everyone's eyes were filled with awe - because of the pews, the floor covering, the lighting and the improvements around the altar.  For the rest of their bodies, it was all about the pews.  Thank you, Ed and Pat, for a job extremely well done!

Sincerely

Dear Ed and Pat,

I have been intending to write to you on behalf of the building committee for some time. As we look back over the building project process we are pleased with many of the decisions we made. We want you to know that we continue to be pleased with our selection of Davis Furniture Company for the design and construction of our pews and soundboard cabinet.

Through the interview process we were exposed to a number of approaches in the sale of pews. We learned the term "engineered wood", learned about southern red oak vs. northern red oak and were shown pews that would be manufactured hundreds or thousands of miles away from WI by companies where we would have been an invoice number. Our initial interest in your company stemmed from the fact that you are local, you are small and that you select and handle the wood from start to finish. As we spent time talking with you we became confident that you understand wood and take pride in a quality end product. In your presentation you took time to instruct us about the manufacture of pews and that information served us well as we compared a variety of products and your timeline. We enjoyed the opportunity to visit your operation where we were able to see the stack of northern red oak boards that would be used to create our pews, to see the kiln and the shop where we were able to observe parts for pews being cut on site.

How well I remember the evening meeting when we were working with you to arrive at a pew end design that we liked. As we moved away from standard designs and began to brainstorm design ideas of our own I watched you get excited and your creative ideas began to flow. It was exciting for us and out of that meeting came the final design for the pews and pew ends we now enjoy in our new sanctuary. The fact that you were willing to work with us on a special routed design for our pew ends that ties the pews with the other design features within our sanctuary was very much appreciated by everyone on our committee.

Little did we realize when we started out just how many decisions there are to make in the selection and design of pews, chairs, and cushions but you walked us through each decision. Our goal was to obtain quality pews at an affordable price and you certainly made it possible for us to achieve our goal.

We have appreciated your trips to Marshfield for follow-up work and to help us celebrate. We look forward to an ongoing relationship and wish you well in your business.

In Faith,
